On the Mend!

Sloane continues to get better although we've had some concerns about her healing. The doctor that took care of her in the hospital lives around the corner and very generously stopped by twice this weekend to check on her progress. On Saturday night, Dr. W and her husband Dave were out taking a walk and stopped by. Here's Dave hanging out with MC & Charlie. The girls had an amazing time and the first question Charlie asked when she woke up the next morning was, "Is Mr. H still here?"

And So It Begins

MC: Guess what Kiara and I found out?
Me: What?
MC: There isn't going to be a High School Musical 3.
Me: How do you know that?
MC: Some 5th graders told us that because there are naked pictures of Vanessa on the web, they're not going to make another movie.

Oh gosh. Well at least she got the story straight. Now I just need to figure out how to answer her when she asks if babies come out of their mothers' mouths.

Post-Post-Post Surgery

Post-Post Surgery

I wasn't planning on taking Mary Claire to her school picnic because I knew it was going to be such a crazy day. I hadn't even told her about it....but when she came home from school and said how her teachers had told her all about it I knew I couldn't not bring her. Mike stayed with Sloane and I took Mary Claire and Charlie to the picnic. There's nothing like little girls doing the Chicken Dance to bring a smile to your face. Charlie refused to dance while she ate her ice cream but then couldn't resist jumping up and down to "Who Let the Dogs Out."

Post-Surgery

Thank goodness for modern medicine. Sloane came home from her operation, took a long nap and then slowly woke up to spend some leisurely time in the bean bag.

Festival In The Park

Sloane was discharged from the hospital on Sunday. Because of everything going on Mary Claire hadn't had a chance to go the annual Festival in the Park right by our house. Luckily Charlie had gone on Friday with Heidi. Normally we would have been there 3-4 times over the weekend but not this year. Late Sunday afternoon MC and I snuck away for a little bit and she got to go on a few rides. She has a big independent streak lately and wanted to do everything by herself -- it was fun watching her enjoy herself after such an intense few days.

Sweet Sloane

Sloane loved the teddy bear and balloons her playgroup pals sent her. She was also cheered up by a visit from her sisters but I'm not quite sure what she thought of Wesley the Therapy Dog!

Mike and I felt very lucky that the doctor taking care of Sloane is also a friend and neighbor. It was a huge relief to say the least...

Nelson

Sweet Nelson probably thought he could just go out and enjoy his new trike but his parents had other ideas.

The Driveway Has Never Looked So Long...

Sloane never likes to see Mary Claire go somewhere without her, but she still managed a wave goodbye while MC waited for the bus.

MC Rides The Bus

MC finally got her bus assignment and was able to ride the bus home for the first time. Charlie & Sloane waited patiently for their big sis to come home....

Charlie

Poor Charlie isn't feeling so hot. She thought she had to throw up last night. (Poor kid threw up for the first time about six months ago. As these things normally happen, it caught her completely by surprise. After she got sick, she cried, "I poopied out of my mouth!") So last night, as she leaned over the potty and nothing happened she mustered up the energy to say, "C'mon mouth, you can do it!" I love that Charlie is her own little cheering section.

Sloane's First Day of School

Sloane started "school" today. She went for all of 45 minutes for the easing in process. Couldn't resist going back and digging up MC and Charlie's pics from around the time they started school.

Too Good To Be True

The Fowlers are finally back from London! It was great to get all the kids together and see them pick up exactly where they off about two years ago.
