Kindergarten Draft

MC found out which class she'll be in today...and one of her classmates is the grandaughter of my parents' neighbors! Mollie and Mary Claire immediately hit it off and seem to have similar interests - kiddie fashion and art!

Later today we went to playgroup and Charlie played with her friend Reily, who is only two weeks younger. So fun for all of these sweet kids to grow up together! Reily's mom and I used to go to prenatal yoga when we were pregnant with the girls.

First Day of Kindergarten!

Note the change in demeanor between the photo of MC at home and then the photo of her at school. Our confident little 5-year-old was a bit overwhelmed walking into her new school for the first time. I've got to hand it to her though that she somehow managed to hold it all together.

After school it was tough to get anything out of Mary Claire about her day. She talked about eating lunch in the cafeteria. She came home to find roses our kind neighbors the Paces had given her to celebrate her first day of school. And she woke up the next morning wanting to practice writing the alphabet!

We found Charlie sleeping UNDER the bed the other night?!?!?!

Back to reality

Not sure what we would have done without Heidi. She puts up with the chaos and craziness and the girls adore her. Plus she lets Mike borrow her sunglasses.

Mike lost his sunglasses in the ocean. Doesn't he look like Elliott Gould in Heidi's glasses?

With Heidi with us we had the luxury of spending some time with Mary Claire alone on Saturday afternoon. It's always such a treat to get time alone with any of the girls.

Both Mary Claire & Charlie walked to the top of Old Baldy Lighthouse. Charlie even did it with her shoes on the wrong feet! They're braver than their mommy.

Margaret & Meredyth Are Back!

World-travelers Margaret & Meredyth are back in Charlotte. The girls all picked up where they left off and loved seeing each other.

Gardening

The girls are very proud of the garden in our front yard. They love working out there and picking polebeans.

Bedtime

It's not unusual for us to put the girls to bed in their own beds and when I go in to check on them they're soundly asleep together in the same bed. I'll have to pull this picture out when they fight when they're older! Notice the bag of rocks by Charlie's head -- her new favorite toy!

The only thing I regret about our week at Taconic is that we didn't get to spend more time with Marge! Thank you Marge!

I can't believe I let the week go by without taking any photos of Liz and Ed. But I did get some of the paddle boat they loaned us! They are too good to us and always make our time at Taconic special. MC's swimming is greatly improved thanks to some coaching from Ed.

Taconic Lake
